Serene And Glamorous Karachi


Tree Plantation Drive started in April 2014 and its aim to plant 0.3 million saplings in the Karachi city by the end of July.

 

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that plantation of 0.3 million trees, under the program “ Sarsabz oo Pursakoon Karachi” in collaboration with National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH), Forest department Government of Sindh, would be completed before monsoon.

“More than half of the target of plantation of trees has been achieved and with collective efforts of organizations and citizens the target could be achieved  by the end of july 2014.“Siddiqui said this while speaking at a seminar held at Commissioner House, event is organized by NFEH and 30 environment managers from 28 industries, NGO’S and environmentalist attended the seminar.

 Shoaib Siddiqui  said that it is a noble, religious and social cause, therefore, needed participation of every single citizen. “A green and beautiful environment would have pleasant effect on psychology of people, hence increase tolerance and reduce crimes,” he said.

M. Naeem Qureshi President NFEH said that it is a fact that greenery could have impressive effect on the situation of law and order in the city. “We have decided to include health, safety & environment managers of leading industries & corporate sectors; he appreciated Commissioner Karachi team, Forest department, and corporate sector for joining this campaign. He said target for plantation of 0.3 million trees will be achieved by the end of July.


Plantation of 0.3m saplings will achieve by July 2014

Naiz Ahmed Khaskheli, from Forest Department Sindh, said that they had started the campaign to sow 0.3m plants on 23rd March 2014 from Quaid’s Mausoleum and they had achieved more than half of the target, which was 166830 number of plants, within two months.

According to commitments from KPT will plant 0.1m Mangroves at different places. Darul Uloom Korangi 3000, National Bank 5000, Pakistan Fisher Folk Forum 10,000, UBL 1000, K-Electric 15000, United Energy 1000, Pharm Evo 500, Phillips 500, Diversity Shell Pakistan 500, Pakistan Security papers 1000, MCB 500, International Textile 1000, Burhani Foundation 1000, Forest Department 20,000 at Korangi & other areas and  organization will plant tress with the sense of ownership.
