Progress Of Quaid-e- Azam Solar Park In Cholistan Delayed

Pakistan being a developed nation possessing Nuclear Energy , despite of that the country is facing shortfall of Electric supply due to the raising population. The country has numerous projects ongoing pushed and backed by Government and Private sector both.

Government is financing alternative energy projects within the country under which foreign investors are bringing in new projects which can generate energy at a relatively low cost. The research and development has been conducted as to which sorts of energy projects are suitable for Pakistan keeping in view the Geographical conditions of the country in mind.

The Chinese company namely Zonergy Ltd is one of the many entities who have taken the step to invest in country, putting up the investment of USD1.5 billion to uplift and install the Solar based project at Quaid-e- Azam Solar Park in Cholistan Desert which can generate 900 MW. As per the officials of the park the solar project generates only 200 MW at present the project is paused at present as the price agreed of purchase of electricity was 14.5cents which has been changed to 9.25cents. The sudden decrease in price of electricity unit is the cause of the pause to the project the company has submitted a lawsuit saying that single unit of electricity to be purchased by Pak Government has been reduced whereas the Government officials say that the price change is caused due to decrease in price of supplies and material. The park being one of the biggest parks in the country spread over 6500 acres.

The park has created around 2000 green jobs where different labor jobs and maintenance opportunities have been created. Every day the maintenance of the park is carried out on large basis where all the solar panels are cleaned on daily basis to maintain their capacity to form energy. The project is benefiting to the environment as well as it is eradicating 280, 0000 tones of carbon dioxide.

FAKT Exhibition is organizing Solar Pakistan 2017 Exhibition to highlight the importance of Renewable Energy. The aim is to combat the current energy crisis in Pakistan.  Many countries are working on renewable energy projects and we aim to make solar Pakistan largest Solar exhibition of the world.
