WORLD THIRD BIGGEST ROLLING STOCK EXHIBITION: EURASIA RAIL OPENED ITS DOORS ON MARCH 06.
The world’s “third” biggest rolling stock exhibition in its field Eurasia Rail: International Rolling Stock, Infrastructure and Logistics Exhibition opened its doors to the sector professionals for the fourth time between 06-08 March 2014 at Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) in Istanbul, Turkey. At the exhibition there were more than 17 thousand professional visitors from 50 countries and 277 exhibitor companies from 23 different countries.
At the exhibition TCDD (Turkish State Railways) and its subsidiary corporations including TÜVASAŞ (Turkish Wagon Industry Inc.), TÜDEMSAŞ (Turkish Railway Machines Industry Inc.), and TÜLOMSAŞ (Turkish Locomotive and Engine Industry Inc.) presented innovations related to wagons of the Turkish railways, locomotives, railway technologies produced by the local manufactures within the railway sector.
The official opening ceremony of 4th Eurasia Rail Exhibition was made by The Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Lütfi Elvan, Director General of Turkish State Railways, Mr. Süleyman Karaman , Mayor of Istanbul, Mr. Kadir Topbas, Governor of Istanbul, Mr. Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, and Head of EU Delegation to Turkey, Mr. Javier Menendez Bonilla.
The Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications of the Republic of Turkey , Mr. Lutfi Elvan who inaugurated the exhibition and presented the intentions of Turkey to invest significant resources in the development of railway transport by providing current and future projects for the construction of high-speed railway. In the past 11 years, Turkey has invested € 6.5 billion in its rail network, constructing 1366 km high speed and 1724 km new railway infrastructure. Currently new 2500 km are under construction and until 2023, € 32.5 billion are going to be invested for the construction of 3,500 km high-speed and 1000 km conventional rail network, increasing the total length of the Turkish railway network to 25000 km.
The exhibition also hosted national pavilion participation from Germany, Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Italy, Poland, and Russian Federation.
As the most important venue for the Eurasian geography in the sector, top-notch executives from national railways and ministry of transport of 15 different countries had visited Eurasia Rail Exhibition.
The fact that during the exhibition there were organized various seminars and conferences with the participation of international speakers attracted the attention of the world press regarding this field of the industry.
The investments in rolling stock and light rail systems in our country, besides attracting the world giants to our country, made Turkey a role model to its neighboring countries and substantially advanced the rail industry in Turkey.
The fifth edition of EURASIA RAIL will take place between 05-07 March 2015 at Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) in Istanbul, Turkey.
