The Textile and Garment industry is considered as the backbone of Pakistans economy, which contributes approximately 56% to export earnings and 46% to total value in the manufacturing sector. To accelerate the growth of textile industry, MEGATECH Pakistan is designed to be a one-stop sourcing platform for industry professionals and machinery manufacturers.

General Information
Pakistan being the 4th largest producer of cotton, ranks amongst the top textile manufacturing countries of the world. It possesses 7.6% of the spinning capacity in the Asian region having 5% share of the cotton yarn produced globally.
Pakistan produces one of the finest cotton in the world and its textile related products constitute a major portion of exports. The Garment industry which provides high value addition in the textile sector recorded a growth of 7.3% in exports. Pakistans share in global textile trade has increased to 3% from 1.94% in 2002.
Pakistan has imported textile machinery worth of US$ 425 million (approx.) during 2007-08 in an effort to enhance the production quality of value added textiles. Overall an investment of around US$ 7 billion has been made on BMR and on expansion of the production capacity, over the last 6 years. |
